were" Does it ever get green here"? It is so dry and so brown. I didn't see beautiful trees surrounding me like I did growing up in Washington. I didn't see beautiful and colorful flowers, or luscious green grass... I just saw tumbleweeds and dirt, yucca plants (which I still think are ugly) and mountains made of dirt. Nothing as beautiful as Mt. Rainier in Washington, which stayed snowed capped year round. My next thought was "this is the ugliest place I've ever seen and I'm moving here after we get married." While I'll visiting my future in-laws, we all went out on a date. We took the tram up the Sandia Mountains. As we were going up the tram, the sun started to set. It was amazing. Not only was I surrounded by beautiful green pine trees on the mountain, but that sunset. That sunset was the most beautiful sunset I had EVER seen. The sky was all different shades of orange, reds and pinks. It literally look as if the sky was on fire. The colors were so vibrant and we were so high up, you would think that you could just reach up and touch the sky. From that moment on I decided that New Mexico wasn't a bad place to live. That sunset stole my heart. People come here to visit and they ask the same questions I did, and I always tell them "wait until you see the sunsets"! I've now lived here for 6 years and I love it. I think it is the most wonderful place in the United States. I love the beautiful rolling mountains, I love how the view is never blocked by huge pine trees. There are so many animals that I see out her that are wild and beautiful. It reminds me of how much God loves me. It is as if He is showing me his little treasures in this pile of dirt we call a state. The sun is almost always shining, and there is almost zero humidity. We live 5 minutes from the largest lake in the state and if at any time I want to be around those trees and beautiful green grass I can drive to other parts of the state. You literally have it all here!
I took a picture of one of our sunsets just the other day. It is from my back yard. These are the things that make me LOVE living in New Mexico.

That is such a gorgeous view... I love the sunsets and I missed them from Pullman because they were always so beautiful... who knows... we might be joining you... PJ just applied for the border patrol so we will see what God has in store for us!
The picture didn't load for me at first, but it didn't really need to because you did such an awesome job describing it that I already had a beautiful picture in my head..
When the picture did load, it was beautiful too!
