Imagine that you have just joined a club. It is a FAVORITES book/cd club. When it is your time to make a suggestion you should suggest a book and cd that is your favorite –the one that you really connect with.Your goal is not to please the group but to convey something about yourself with your selection. Select the one book that you really connect with for whatever reason. Select the album/cd that you would keep if you were only allowed one for the rest of your life.Along with your selection please explain why.
There are a lot of books that I truly loved reading, books that have taken me on a intense adventures, but rarely do I read a book that I can connect with on a personal level.
But since I need to choose one, I chose Redeeming Love by Francine Riveres.
Francine Rivers skillfully retells the biblical love story of Gomer and Hosea in a tale set against the exciting backdrop of the California Gold Rush. The heroine, Angel, is a young woman who was sold into prostitution as a child. Michael Hosea is a godly man sent into Angel’s life to draw her into the Savior’s redeeming love.
After I had finished reading this story, I realized that before my salvation I was no better than this young prostitute woman. And just like Angel, sometimes it is hard to believe that there is a God that could ever love and accept us just as we are. We hold on to the guilt of our past, which cripples us in our relationship with God. We become ashamed and instead of running to God, we run away from God and His will for us. Thankfully, I have stayed in God's will. I had many oportunities to run away from it, but I chose to stay. I married a wonderful man and have a beautiful family. I often still wonder why God has chosen to bless me so much, when I deserve so little. We are all broken people, put back together by God's love.
Now for my favorite Cd. I don't really own a cd... so this is a hard one as well. I choose.... Tim Mcgraw's greatest hits. This cd has fun songs and love songs! I enjoy listening to his voice... and usually I get tired of hearing the same songs over and over, but a lot of these songs are classics for me.
