Abby is four years old now, so I decided to start homeschooling her. I am using the Abeka DVD program, I thought it would be easier for me being that I have a infant. So Abby watches and participates with the class on DVD and she really enjoys it. I try and get her as involved as possible. If the kids get a paper umbrella for pronoucing their u sounds then I make one for Abby.... She stands when the girls stand she answeres the teacher and she practices writing her letters on the chalk board just as they do. I sometimes wonder if I expect too much from her though. For example: She will be learning how to write her cursive e's and I want her to do it correctly. So I have her practice over and over, or when she is coloring in the lines and I don't think she is taking her time I will say something to her. But then I will see how the kids are doing in the class room and think, "oh wow, Abby does so much better than them" Maybe I expect her to do better because I know she is capable. She's really smart, but I also want her to enjoy school.
Another thing I started for Abby this year is Soccer! I signed her up for the city league. I am so glad we did this because she gets to play with other kids in a structured enviroment.
Last Saturday was her first game and she did awesome. She did make any goals but twice she came so close. She made a new friend named Kendall and she is 5 years old. I think Abby is the youngest on her team. It was the cutest thing to see this group of little kids following the ball up and down the field. Abby got bumped around a little bit, but she didn't cry or whine. I was so proud of her!
So my life has gotten a little bit more busy. Juggling homeschooling, taking care of Josiah, and getting lunch ready (and occasionally doing laundry) in between, I am feeling a bit more tired. I'm just thankful that Josiah is such a easy baby. He has his days but for the most part he makes it possible for me to juggle all of these things!
