Soccer Mom VS. Pastor's wife

Or maybe I should just put Soccer Mom VS. Christian because that would apply in this situation.
Abby had a soccer game saturday. She wasn't up to her usual "game" because she was still tired from the corn maize the night before, but she won't admit she was tired.... Anyway, again there was one or two players that where twice her size. I mean, she is only 4 but some of the kids that play with the 4 and 5 year olds are actually 6! Abby usually hangs in there and plays tough, she'll fall but get's right back up. Abby is a 100% girly, but she isn't a prissy little girl when it comes to game time. (there I go rambling again. Pardon me) But there was this one boy who was bigger and simply faster than her. Every time he got the ball she would have to run as fast as she could to catch up with him. The problem was, this kid liked to shove and push. (hey, it is soccer, and they're little kids. I understand that) HOWEVER!!!!! This kid had pushed Abby from behind two or three times, and i'm not talking about a little shoulder rubbing. Finally Abby got the ball and this boy was behind her, right on her heels.... Shove, Abby almost bites it. She resists and slows down then again, shove. (uhhh hellooo coaches) The ball is almost out of bounds Abby is in front of the ball the boy is behind her and the rest of the teams are trying to catch up to them. The boy puts his fist into Abbys back at the base of her neck, and shoves her AGAIN!!! She looks up at me as her head jerked! And I stand up and yell "Abby PUSH him back!!!!" Well..... My dh, Miguel is sitting next to me and says "Esther, don't tell her that" I sit down and start to argue, "well she needs to do something!" "let the coaches handle it, don't forget that i'm a pastor and we live in small town" So.... (sigh) I stayed seated, I turned off my camera and I pouted, I was mad. How dare someone shove my daughter like that!!! Well the little boys coach heard me and so did the rest of the crowd, (i have to say the other mothers understood and some agreed, But that was besides the point) She grabbed the little boy and got on his level and asked him "did you just put your fist into that little girls back and push her"? He replied with a very prideful attitude "yah, I did" the coach told him to sit down. He sat for 5 seconds and then started hopping up the bleachers. (I won't tell you what I was thinking)
Well, Abby was okay and in the end she blocked the other team from making their last goal. I was very proud of her!

Now... I KNOW that it is a game and usually it doesn't bother me if some of the kids get pushed around a bit, even Abby. The difference is most the time it is innocent. They are all trying to get the ball, but this little boy was just mean. Abby told me later that he kept going "ha ha ha ha" (taunting them)
I apologized to my husband. I know that I shouldn't have yelled that for everyone to hear, but I let my anger get to me. My husband wasn't upset with me, he understould and knows how it is when someone is messing with your kids. But that doesn't give us the right to lose our tempers and possibly our testamony. So I'll probably apologize to Abby's coach for saying what I did and I'll start praying BEFORE I go the games :)

PS Did I mention that that boy almost fell when he was hopping down the bleachers, but guess who kept him from falling???? Me. I was sitting there and as he was hopping down being disobiedient, he stumbled and grabbed my shoulder with both hands and I resisted shaking him off.... after all he was just a little kid. a brat, but a kid.

ohh that must be so hard! it's so strange when I feel my mommy protective side come out. it's hard to remember to think first and act last...

I can see myself having the same struggles when Trevor is on a team someday. I am pretty competitive and love sports...but I wouldn't let some bigger kid that doesn't belong with the younger kids push my kid around. Hmmm...I'll probably coach though. I dunno! Sounds like Abby is doing a great job! (pianomama)
