Gratitude Post- Friendship #1

This is from Sherry's Blog:

BLOG CHALLENGE and GIVE AWAY!!! Gratitude Month ~ November ~ Today I am thankful for...
Colossians 3:15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.

This month I challenge all of you, my blogging friends, to post a gratitude post daily. If possible, post a picture to go along with it! As an extra incentive, I will offer up something special for those of you that participate in this every day...I'll start counting from November 3rd since some of you may not see this until then. Everyone that participates daily starting no later than the 3rd will be entered in a drawing at the end of the month. Keep it simple or go all out! Comment and let me know if you're up for the challenge!

Cambell Morgan once said," A man has many acquaintances in life, but few friends." On the wall in our home is a piece of needle work which reads, " Friends are like jewels, precious and rare; but acquaintances are like leaves, scattered everywhere." You don't have to explain to friends. You don't have to impress friends. You don't have to put on a facade for friends. Friends want you to be yourself around them. Friends understand. You can confide in friends. Friends are faithful. Friends understand when you feel bad and don't feel like talking. Your enemies won't believe your explanations, and your friends don't nee them. - Curtis Hudson

When I read this in Curtis Hudsons' book Some Things I've Learned, I instantly thought of my friend, Katarina. I have to be honest, at first it was hard to be friends with her. She's very quiet, I'm loud. She's very private and I'm not. She's hard to read and one could read my face like an open book. But over the years, her and I have become closer. I can now call her my friend. Not just any friend, but to me, a special friend. She has gone through heartache in her life that no young person should ever have to go through. She, if anyone, has the right to walk around bitter, angry and negative. Yet she is the sweetest and most loving person. I have two kids. Abby who is 4 and Josiah who is 4 months, and she (and her husband) have always been so good to both of them. They came to almost every soccer game that Abby had. Katarina holds and plays with Josiah at every opportunity. I love her for loving my kids. Katarina is my friend, because I can be ME. You see, I'm a Pastor's wife and I can't just be me with just anyone. There are a lot of judgemental people out there and they are just waiting to tear me down. But I can truly be myself with Kat'. Another thing is, she is loyal. I don't ever have to question whether or not she is going to bad mouth me to someone else. She knows and understands that I have bad days. Not only that but she helps me with the church and the things that she helps me with allows me to be a better Pastor's Wife. I can laugh and joke. I can dump my non important problems on her and she listens. She cares. She laughs with me.

So today my daily gratitude is, Katarina. I'm thankful for her friendship. I cherish it because I have rarely come across a friendship like ours.

It does mean alot to me!! Thank-you! It is amazing how far our friendship has come and all we have been through together. I have to say it hasn't always been easy getting our relationship to where it's at now but very well worth it. I know that if I can depend on anyone it would be you. Thanks for writing this and for always being honest with me (oh and always putting up with my emotions!). =) You are a true friend. Love Ya Bunches!!!
