Woman #7 - Sherry Morales

I know it is "normal" for teenagers to go through a "rebellious stage" , but I think when I was 15 years old I took it to a whole new level. I remember one night fighting with my parents and my dad yelling "You have two options, go to jail, or move to California and live with your sister," and I said "send me to jail." I was so serious too, I did not want to live with my sister. See, I didn't fear much at 15, I lost the fear of God and the fear of my parents.... but the fear of my sister, well that was still there. I knew my sister. I remember my sister and the fights she would get in and WIN, on top of that she was now married to a pastor and she was a BAPTIST *that is scary*LOL But my dad lied, I had only one options and it wasn't going to jail, not a state jail anyway. Instead I got sent to live with my sister, I had 9 weeks of my junior year left. One day I was living in WA. and literally the next day I was in Ca. ! My world had flipped completely, my dress code was different, I couldn't listen to the radio, I couldn't do anything without having my sister right up in my face. I hated it, I fought her and both physically and verbally. It was a battle of will. My sister worked in a Christian School and I ended up going to this school. How she convinced them to accept me, I have no idea but I'm sure it wasn't easy. My heart was as cold and as hard as any rock. Bitterness had taken over my soul, but my sister never gave up on me. She was hard on me but she did it with love. Finally I had come to a point when I realized that I either can keep on fighting her, my parents and God, or I can give in and submit myself to whatever it is that God had in store for me. After about a year I gave in. I quit going around her back to get what I wanted, you know sin always presents you with opportunity if you really want it to. I was done. So the change began. It hurt for a while, the loss of my friends and my boyfriend. It hurt to truly start over. Partially out of fear, Who was I? Where do I begin? Next thing I know I got involved in sports, Basketball and Volleyball. I loved it. The friends that I made there at my christian school were wonderful friends that I still keep in touch with today. I ended up graduating *which was not going to happen had I stayed in WA.* I went to college, I met my husband *who is also a pastor* and God has decided to bless me abundantly. If it wasn't for my sister who had decided to take in her rebellious teenage sister, I don't know what or where I would be today. I cause her and my parents and God a lot of heartache. Looking back now, I can see God's hand in everything. I made the choices but he reconstructed His plans for me. My sister has the biggest heart I know out of anyone. She is sensitive and tough. She loves to help others and she loves be a blessing to others even if it means she goes without. Thank You sherry for all that you did for me. As difficult as it was, I know you would do it over again for any of your sisters. I love you dearly and I am so thankful that we are as close as we are. Keep going Sherry, keep doing what you are doing. You are an amazing mother, sister, wife, pastor's wife and friend. You are such a blessing to those around you. I'm sorry if this post doesn't even come close to saying how awesome you are and all that you have done for me, but God knows all that you sacrificed just for me and I know He has a special reward for you in heaven. Love You Big Sis
BTW: she was pregnant in this photo, that's why my hand is one her tummy LOL

Well. I'm not Sherry, but I know that I'm crying now and I'm pretty sure she will be too when she reads this.

What a beautiful testimony of how the hand of God can use those of us who are willing to be tools. And what a sweetheart of a sister you have! Thank you for your honesty and for sharing so much of yourself. What a great way to end the challenge.
