The challenge: Where do you go when you know you have to go somewhere but don’t have the time, energy or inclination to actually leave the house?
This one is a challenge for me, because I don't really get overloaded or overwhelmed. But I can go back to a time when I just had my daughter. She was very demanding even as a baby. I BF for 18 months and she wouldn't take a bottle so it was Mommy feedings all the time.
She didn't sleep through the night until she was about 2 years old. So I was always exausted and spent.
At the time all I wanted was to close my eyes and sleep. But since that can't happen I will have to go back and relive a memory. A memory that always puts a smile on my face.
When you are a first time parent you learn things along the way. It really is a trial and error plan (poor first child)
One Saturday night (actually Sunday morning like 2:30)Abby had woken up. I turned on the lamp and picked her up from her crib that was pushed up against my bed. I fed her and then decided to change her diaper before switching to the other breast. So I grabbed a large pillow that was next to me, I sat up and layed Abby horizontal on the pillow. Miguel was sleeping in a fetal position facing me and I was trying not to disturb him since he would have to get up in a few hours to preach. I opened Abby's pj.s and then her diaper. I cocked her legs back to wipe her and when I did it was like someone had jumped on a mustard bottle! I saw it in slow motion. The baby poo flying in the air towards her daddy's sleeping face. I must have made a sound because he woke up quickly and said "what happened"? Just then the poo landed on his pillow where his head once layed few seconds before. I laughed soooooo hard! It was the funniest thing to see. Had he not woken up it would've landed right on his face. It freaked him out because he was still half asleep. The next morning in church he told everyone that I was purposely trying to get revenge because he was asleep and I wasn't.
So that's my memory. I like to think back on times that make me smile. It changes my mood and my spirit. It even gives me a boost of energy. So though my holiday doesn't seem so lovely, it puts a smile on my face! (wouldn't you smile too if your baby almost pooped on your dh?) LOL i'm still laughing
