Last night, for our Sunday Service, my husband was preaching about putting on the whole Armor of God. His topic was "Shoes of Peace" this is a lesson I have heard and learned many times over the years. But I believe that for the first time I actually LEARNED what it means to have shoes of peace.
Now if I can just put all my thoughts down in order to make sense.
I love shoes. I probably have over 40 different types of shoes. I just love them. To me, you can have a beautiful outfit on, but if you have nasty shoes it just throws the whole look off. You're shoes are very important, probably one of the most important articles of clothing (except maybe those over the should bolder holders that some of you may wear ;) But really, sometimes I see people walking down the street wearing a pair of stilettos and I wonder "how far are they going in those shoes? They're stupid for wearing those to walk in."
So as I sat there listening about putting on the Shoes of Peace, I began to think. The shoes of peace represent the Good News, the Good news is our salvation. Now I always just thought that you should take this good news with you and share it with others and that's what it meant to put on the Shoes of Peace, but as I thought about it more a nother thought came to mind.
Those shoes are the only pair of shoes we have and whether we walk through valley's or climb the mountain tops, they are the perfect pair of shoes. It is our salvation and because we have the assurance of our salvation, we can have peace in our lives no matter what we face. I know that times can be tough, I know that we can face some of the deepest darkest valleys, but the wonderful and most comforting thing is that it is all temporary. "This world is not my home, I'm just a passin' through" we can obtain the peace that we need in our hearts knowing that we will one day be reunited with our Heavenly Father, we have hope in knowing that no matter what we are never alone.
I praise God today for my salvation and the peace it brings my heart knowing that this life, no matter how wonderful or how dark it may be, the best is yet to come!
